Not a pipe dream
St John’s musical tradition is equalled by few parishes in the country. Music attracts many people to our church. Without it St John’s would not be the same.
Our old organ which was built in 1906 by Garrard and extensively rebuilt on a budget basis in 1969 suffered terminal failure early in 2011, forcing our hand to seek a replacement. The installation of the new Nicholson’s organ started in August 2011 and is now complete.
We are committed to the tough task of raising the balance of the £400,000 needed for this new organ that will live up to the rich heritage of musical excellence. This sum should provide us with a quality instrument which will last into the 22nd century.
